Committees

All Committees:

  • Submit committee reports to Central Office one week prior to each Board of Directors Meeting.

 

Membership:

  • Find ways to increase membership

  • Understand flow of memberships and report quarterly numbers

  • Help with any membership questions

 

Financial:

  • Assist Treasurer with budget preparation

 

By-Laws/Policy and Procedures/Legislative:

  • Review By-Laws each year for needed revisions

  • Review Committee Responsibilities

  • Check professional websites and the news for any items that impact Sonography and Healthcare

 

Vendor:

  • Update Vendor list (contact at the Symposium)

  • Contact the Vendors prior to the Symposiums

  • Support the Vendor Hall during the Symposiums

 

Webpage:

  • Will help proof newsletter and send to webmaster

  • Will help Nominating Committee with posting information online about BOD voting

  • Will help President and Fall committee with posting speaker lectures on the web page

  • Check the web page weekly and check for items that need updating, making sure that all future meetings are listed and any upcoming events

  • Communicate with Webmaster to have update posted and maintenance needs handled

 

Newsletter:

  • Work with designing and publishing the newsletter

  • Publish 2 a year (After the Spring meeting and Fall meeting)

  • Collect articles for the newsletter

  • Cut and Paste and have them sent to the Webmaster to put on the web page

 

Nominating:

  • Receives nomination on Google Drive

  • Verify eligibility of nominees through Central Office

  • Contact all eligible Board member nominees

  • Track terms and contact retiring board members and ask if they wish to run again

  • Acquire the bios of the nominees that will be on the ballot

  • Central Office will Post in Constant Contact 

  • Email members in Constant Contact about voting on the NCUS web page

  • After election date close, verify results and contact newly elected members with a letter with date and time of first BOD meeting

  • Track Board members in regions (out-of-state, west, east, etc)

 

Foundation:

  • The purpose of the NCUS Foundation is to provide funds for 2 recipients (1 student/1 sonographer) per year to attend to the Annual Spring Conference.

  • The NCUS Foundation Committee will work with Central Office in acknowledging financial donations received throughout the entire year with a thank you letter.

  • The NCUS Foundation Committee will oversee the applications process that is open to the membership from November 1 to December 31. Acceptable applications will proceed to essay, which are due by January 31st.

  • The committee will then review submissions and select 2 recipients by February 15th.

  • All applicants will receive either an award letter or a regret letter.

  • The committee must work with Communications Committee in promoting and growing the foundation via social media.

Sonographer Excellence:

  • Follow Nominations results throughout the year on Google Forms

  • Verify nominees’ eligibility through Rhonda

  • Follow SEA guideline sheet (already prepared)

  • Tally points and have a winner

  • Notify Central Office (in January) to have a plaque ordered

  • Announce winner at the NCUS spring meeting

 

Education Committee:

Quiz Bowl

  • Email Program Faculty in January to promote QB

  • Collect applications and verify eligibility

  • Collect questions and update game power points annually

  • Order cake for event if allowed by venue

  • Prepare team signs in advance of event

  • Recruit judges from BOD

  • Appoint scorekeeper and timekeeper

  • Host Quiz Bowl on Friday evening

 

Scientific Exhibits:

  • Collect applications and verify eligibility

  • Notify Central Office of number of tables needed and any electrical/AV needs

  • 3 copies of list

  • Table signs

  • 3 copies of judge scale

  • Recruit judges from BOD

  • Oversee judging

  • Tally scores to determine winner

  • Provide results to Treasurer for prize checks to be written

 

Student Mentor Program:

  • Email program faculty in January to promote Student Mentor Program

  • Receive application for Mentee positions

  • Select Mentees for Eastern, Central and Western Positions

  • Recruit Mentors from the Board of Director’s and communicate with Mentee

  • Notify Central Office of Mentee’s contact information

 

Symposium Committee:

  • Assist President and/or President-Elect with speaker recruiting

  • Speakers Committee: The President-Elect heads up the acquisition of speakers, though anyone of the board can contribute names of possible speakers. Refer to list of past speakers and past topics to keep topics fresh. We currently obtain CME credits from SDMS and the application and the application for CME credits through SDMS cannot be submitted until the brochure is completed. It is uploaded as part of the application process.  Vice-President - Designate moderators for speakers. Prepare and provide moderator bios to BODs.
